TURMERIC
Turmeric is also known as the Golden spice and is the richest source of Curcumin, known for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is a rhizome and fleshy when its fresh. Mostly it is used in its dried and powdered from as a colouring agent to lend a rich yellow colour to pickles, curries, sauces, paellas and other rice dishes. Due it proclaimed health benefits and medicinal value, turmeric is foraying as a health supplement in European markets. Native to India, almost all of world’s produce comes from southwest regions. However, different varieties like blue turmeric is found South East Asia and Africa. Turmeric losses its aroma very soon and hence special measures are taken to preserve and transport rurmeric to obtain maximum benefit from the use of this spice. Turmeric is especially rich in Copper along with Iron and Manganese.
